Awakening to the Spirit World
by Sandra Ingerman and Hank Wesselman
As this book states, “shamanism reveals that we are part of Nature and one with all of life.” It goes on to say, “shamanism is a form of meditation combined with a focused intention to accomplish various things.” This “form of meditation” has been practiced by indigenous cultures, all over the world, for thousands of years.
One of the key skills you can learn from Awakening to the Spirit World is shamanic journeying, an opportunity to visit the spiritual realm for help with personal guidance or healing. The book includes a drumming CD, to help you reach a trance state, an important part of the journeying process.
Many of the techniques remind me of skills I learned in a year-long clairvoyant training program with Simply Spirit, however I was intrigued by the strong connection with Nature that is emphasized in these pages.
On my first attempt at journeying, I played the accompanying CD and met with my wolf totem animal, in a meadow surrounded by forest and mountainous peaks. Having done plenty of similar work may have made this easier for me, but with practice, you too can visit the Spirit Worlds and use The Shamanic Path of Direct Revelation.
